Events

This year Aki Matsuri has 3 stages. In addition to the stages, featured events will be held at the ballrooms located inside New York-New York. We will update the time schedule soon.

 

Sake

Pavilion

4:00 PM-8:00 PM or until supplies are depleted

Ballroom: Liberty Loft (NY-NY 2nd floor)

Admission: $30 a person

Admission includes sake tasting and food pairings

*All guests must be at least age 21.

*No children allowed inside the Sake Pavilion.

A unique experience of the world of sake education by tasting and pairing with foods! Try Japanese food paired with the 50 different sake.

Sake Pavilion sponsored by Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, Southern Glaziers Wine & Spirits and JFAN.

*Schedule subject to change without notice. Admission covers all of the tastings until supplies are exhausted. 

 

Sogetsu Ikebana

No admission fee, $2.00 donation only

Ikebana~Japanese art of flower arrangement~ exhibition and mini-workshops by Sensei Kika Shibata. At the workshops, you can make your own arrangement and take it home.

KIMONO SHOW

~ Bridal Quick Change~

Location: Pepsi Stage

Jane Aiko Yamano and Yamano Ryu Teachers present "The Yamano Ryu Bridal Quick Change".

No admission fee

The Kimono show will be featuring Japanese Wedding style Kimono. Find out how does the "Quick Change" works. Estimated show time will be 15-20 minutes.

 

HAIKU

Peoples Choice Contest

Location: Staten Island

Haiku poems from local students and adults will be featured in the Ikebana exhibition room. It will be a Peoples Choice Contest. Winning works will be published on the Aki Matsuri website after the festival concludes. 
 (You can bring in your haiku in the morning of the festival)
